Volkswagen have finally revealed the details of the Touareg R50, the top of the range 4x4. With a 5.0 V10 TDI engine, the R50 has one of the most powerful diesel engines available on the general market. The massive engine has increased the power output from 313bhp to 350bhp at 3,500rpm and produces 850Nm of torque. The new VW Touareg R50 has an impressive road test performance, covering 0 to 62mph in just 6.7 seconds and has top speed of 146mph. The general view will be that the new Touareg with be even more of an fuel guzzling beast, however it has the same fuel enconomy and CO2 output as the stand V10 TDI (22.4mpg combined and 333g/km).
